Each injection contains triamcinolone acetonide 10 mg/ml as the active ingredient. Triamcinolone acetonide belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids (steroids).
Adcortyl is for the treatment of joint pain, swelling and stiffness in inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. It is also used to treat various forms of allergic dermatitis, skin overgrowths such as thickened scar tissue, and patchy baldness, which is usually reversible.
- Intra-articular use: for alleviating the joint pain, swelling and stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthrosis, with an inflammatory component.
- Intradermal use: for lichen simplex chronicus (neuro-dermatitis), granuloma annulare, lichen planus, keloids, alopecia areata and hypertrophic scars.
